Omigosh. It was an experience tempting and satisfying all the senses! Our hosts, Amelie and Laurent took care of our every wish while making us feel a part of their delightful family. Amelie was so gracious in taking us to restaurants and gardens, historic chateaux and abbeys that no tourist would ever find. Monsieur Greg is steeped in academic painting—history and process—-so one is almost assured of executing a masterpiece!!! My mind wanders often to the afternoons spent painting under the tree in the garden while espaliered fruit trees offered us baskets of pears from their laden limbs. The wine! The cheese! The salmon mousse with dill! The children’s candlelit march! The marche! Cecile playing Poulenc while we toasted the close of another ‘encroyable’ day in French heaven, Valmondois.
The experience is exhilarating and transformative as each participant emerges from their French experience feeling the pride of accomplishment with their own artistic creations and the joy of true cultural immersion in France – so very different from the typical “tourist” experience. You haven’t even reached the airport until you want to turn around and do it all again.
